Photographing in Our Gardens

I was asked some time ago if I could post a few ideas about photographing flowers. To be clear, I’m not an expert in garden photography, there are far more experienced people out there who take better photographs, but I thought I could perhaps share my thoughts on how I take my photographs.

Comparing ideas and thoughts can lead to new ways of thinking and fresh ways of creating images, so it would be lovely to hear your approach to photographing in your garden.

This won’t be a once-weekly or regular series of posts, more likely it will be occasional posts when time is available.

Roses. More about this photo and the top image in a future post.

Whether you photograph with a camera or phone, the principles will be the same. Light (hugely important!), composition, exposure, depth-of-field, sharpness, and much more are all used to compose and create the image.

This leads me to a really important point – when you take a photograph, no matter what anyone else thinks about it – if you love that photo, then it’s a great photo.

The first post, which will follow tomorrow, has been prompted by some comments in a previous post about photographing flowers at their level. I hope you might find something of interest.

Catherine 😊

    1. Thank you kindly, Dock. The posts will be simple with just a little idea put forward on each one. I hope something in them will be useful to you. 😊
