Farewell 2024!
Wishing you all a garden full of beautiful colour and heavenly perfume in 2025!
Bringing our gardens back to life is only a dream at this time of the year—but there is little to stop us from enjoying that dream. Seed, bulb and plant catalogues are popping through the letterbox and it’s a treat to sit and flick through the pages on a cold winter night, sparking inspiration and indulging in dreams of a perfect garden! I’m sure most of us are the same, we always end up with far more dream plants than will fit in our borders, right? But…there’s always room for a few more plants in the garden?

My little Wisteria Tree died last year, and although I’ve already bought a replacement, it will be some time before it produces those beautiful, heavily perfumed blooms shown in the photo above. However, the photo is a reminder of what can be achieved in the garden, given time. What exciting ideas do you have planned for your garden in 2025?
Have a wonderful and happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Hope 2025 is a good one for you and your garden. My husband and I are seeing in the new year with the joys of COVID-19. I had so many blog posts I wanted to do this week, but, unfortunately, my body has other ideas and even basic self care is a struggle right now! If one of us was well, we could look after the other but hey ho!

Oh, what a shame, Laura, you must be feeling awful. I hope the symptoms ease off quickly and let you and your husband enjoy the start of a new year.
Best wishes to you both for a good year ahead!

I hope your new Wisteria thrives in 2025. I am dreaming about the new gardening year already too, and hope to experiment with drying and pressing some flowers and plants this year…. I got some nice books for Christmas that have inspired me! Happy New Year Catherine!

Flower pressing, Cathy! We must share successes & failures! I started pressing flowers after I bought a small press as an activity for two of my grandchildren, just at the end of last summer. I enjoyed helping them so much that I bought a press for myself, then husband had to make me two larger ones! I’m still very much a beginner but I’m planning to grow flowers specifically for pressing this year.
At some point I’ll probably do a post on the topic, if I can work up the courage to show my efforts! 😁
Happy New Year!

Oh yes, it will be lovely to compare our successes and failures! I did make a start a long long time ago, and my partner also made me a huge flower press, but other things in life took over! Looking forward to it now. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you and happy gardening in 2025! My wisteria had to be cut down for my roofing work so like you I’m starting a new growth for the new year and I’ll have to wait a little to enjoy the scent of these pretty flowers.

Yes, dreams for sure! Glad to hear you have plans to replace the Wisteria…they are so wondrous. I’m starting to think about seeds and plants and all that good stuff for the year ahead. 🙂

I bought a few packets of seeds today at a garden centre, Beth. Husband just said…”Already!?” 😁

Happy New Year! It’s always sad when a plant dies but I tend to look on that as a plant purchasing opportunity:-)
